Know what’s in your food.
Solace is an AI-native food scanner and diary for iOS. Scan a barcode or snap a photo, see Nutri-Score, NOVA, and Green-Score instantly, and log it to Health — free, private, and open source.
Everything you need to eat with confidence
Scan any barcode
Point your camera at a product to get its Nutri-Score, NOVA, and Green-Score badges instantly, backed by Open Food Facts.
Log a meal from a photo
Snap a plate and get an editable macro estimate. Nothing is ever auto-logged — you review every draft before it’s saved.
Safety first, always
Every scan is checked against your allergens and diet exclusions before a health score is even shown.
On-device AI explanations
Apple Intelligence explains why a food scored the way it did, entirely on your device — no data leaves your phone.
Syncs with Health
Opt in to write logged calories and macros straight to Apple Health. One-way, and only what you choose to log.
Your data, your iCloud
Everything syncs across your devices with your own iCloud account via CloudKit. Solace has no servers and no database of its own.
No paid tier. No catch.
Solace is completely free and open source. There’s nothing to unlock, nothing to subscribe to, and no ads — review the code yourself if you want to know exactly how your data is handled.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Solace really free?
- Yes. There is no subscription, no paywall, and no ads. It’s free and open source.
- Do I need to create an account?
- No. Solace syncs through your existing iCloud account via CloudKit — there’s no separate sign-up or Solace-hosted backend.
- What is the optional cloud AI for?
- Photo-based meal logging can use a cloud AI provider you configure yourself (bring your own API key). Barcode scanning and on-device explanations never need it.
- Is my health data shared with anyone?
- No. HealthKit writes are one-way and opt-in, and your diary data syncs only through your own iCloud account — Solace has no server to share it from.
